Gary Lopez

Since graduating in 2012, Gary Lopez has built his career as a digital compositor, creating visual effects for movies like The Do-Over, Furious 7, and the TV series Marco Polo and Limitless. After graduating with his Computer Animation Bachelor of Science Degree from The L.A. Film School, Gary landed his first compositor job with the company, Legend 3D. While there, he worked as a stereo compositor on several well-known films, including Man of Steel, The Lego Movie, The Smurfs 2 and The Amazing Spider-Man 2.

Gary Lopez joined us back on campus for our Animation Smash panel, where he shared his knowledge with our students about working in the animation field. During Animation Smash, he discussed his compositing job on the Oscar-winning film Fences starring Denzel Washington and Viola Davis. Gary also contributed to the reimagined Ghostbusters movie starring Melissa McCarthy, Kristen Wiig, Leslie Jones and Kate McKinnon. As a professional compositor, Gary continues to leave his mark on some of the most recognizable movies and TV series in entertainment.
