Alumni Spotlight: Glory Gale

,

This week we caught up with Alum Glory Gale, who, for the last 7 years, has been working on the Ellen show. We wanted to catch up and see what it’s like working on such an established show and what new projects she has on her plate.

According to Glory, working on the Ellen show is not easy if you are not up for a challenge.

“It’s hard work, you have to be focused and incredibly passionate about the show and the people you work with.”

At the end of season 11, Glory had her own segment on the show called “A Moment with Glory.”

“After seven years, there wasn’t anything I wasn’t willing to take on, or try, which comes from an unconditional love and trust of the people you work with, the show and obviously respect for your host.”

Even with everything she has accomplished with the show, moving up has not been easy, especially in an established show. That being said, Glory notes,
“Moving up isn’t impossible at a show like Ellen, but you have to consider both the position you’d ultimately like to reach and what growth within that department will really be like. Because television isn’t just about on-air content anymore. People are involved with social media and promotion, which is all internet-based, has incredible potential for growth.”

When asked about the challenges of working in the Entertainment industry, Glory simply stated,

“What isn’t a challenge?! This town is filled with transplant optimists just hoping to find work in entertainment. But, the great thing is that “entertainment” has so many facets, there’s no limit to what you can do, or be a part of. The saying “It’s not what you know, it’s who you know” is so painfully true… It’s important to stay focused and to continue learning. Just because you’ve completed a course doesn’t mean you’ve learned all there is to know.”

Glory has recently moved on from Ellen to broaden her horizon and interest stating,

“I think it’s important to scare yourself professionally every once in a while, just to make sure other parts of your brain still work.”

She has been working on a few projects since then, most recently producing commercial photography, something she calls,

“A throwback to my cinematography days at LAFS.”

She also has an upcoming project taking her out of the country this year, but as for her career, she is up for anything as long as it’s not television,

“I’m looking forward to more projects outside of my comfort zone and curating a really interesting and broad resume.”

Congratulations, Glory! We are so proud of you!
