Celebrate One Year Of Seeking Our Story with Networking, Nibbles, and a Movie!

SOS-Arzner-4-2015

When: Friday, April 24th

Where: MiModa Studio at Paper or Plastik Café
5772 West Pico Blvd. LA, CA 90019

6:00pm Nibbles and unofficial networking.
7 – 8pm Networking: We’ll be doing above and below the line introductions and wants/needs/projects (such as “I’m a director looking for a sound mixer”, or “I’m a sound mixer looking for work”). It’s a great way to meet people looking for crew, let people know you’re available, or tell folks about your projects.
8pm Introduction and Film Club: Celebrate the one year anniversary of Seeking Our Story with a special screening of Dorothy Arzner’s Dance, Girl, Dance (1940). She is the creator of the boom mike, intercutting with stock footage, and was the first woman in the DGA. She also taught film making to Francis Ford Coppola at UCLA. The film stars Maureen O’Hara as an aspiring ballerina in a marginally successful dance troupe. The ensemble’s star, however quickly becomes Bubbles, a less-than-classically-trained dancer played by the ineffable Lucille Ball.
Cost: Donation at the door helps mitigate the cost of the room rental.

RSVP: Womennmedia@gmail.com so we reserve enough seating.
