Grads Work on Oscar-nominated Pictures

Our Grads Worked On The Most Acclaimed Films of 2016

2017 is off to a tremendous start, with our graduates working on films, television series and albums all across the entertainment field. This year’s Oscars marks the success of Recording Arts grad Darpan Patel (Recording Arts, 2015), who worked on the Oscar-nominated film, Moana. Darpan previously worked on Star Wars: The Force Awakens, and continues to make strides in the film industry.

We would like to warmly congratulate Per Sandholt (film, 2003) for his work as the editor on Land of Mine. Directed by Martin Pieter Zandvliet, the film is centered around a group German prisoners of war following the end of World War 2, charged with digging up over 2 million land mines. The film was nominated for a Best Foreign Language Film Oscar. Per previously worked as an editor on The Numbers Station, The Expedition to the End of the World, and the television series, Those Who Kill.

In addition, we would like to congratulate Jessie Pariseau for her work on the film Fences. The film, directed by Oscar-winner Denzel Washington, is about the struggles of a man who realizes that he lost the chance to pursue his dream of participating in professional baseball, and grapples with handling his misfortune in the midst of civil and social changes in society. Jessie also worked on the upcoming film, Ghost in the Shell, starring Scarlett Johansson.

Recording Arts grad Grad Justin Scott Wilson is credited as having worked on the Oscar-Nominated film, Arrival. Written by Eric Heisserer (twice a guest on campus), the film tells an intimate tale of a vast alien force arriving on earth, and a lone linguistics professor, played by Amy Adams, working against the clock to decipher their purpose. Wilson’s previous work includes the television series, Bates Motel, and I Am Jazz.
