July 4th holiday—summer in a sunscreen bottle

School’s out for the summer…well, just the week. What better time to relax and recalibrate than during your summer break? Whether you’re taking it easy or have plans to soak up some sun at the beach, we put together a list of four entertainment-focused events happening next week! We hope you enjoy your summer break and the Fourth of July holiday!

For the Anime Obsessed:

Anime Expo

In case you missed out on E3 2019, there’s another great event for folks interested in cosplay, video games and Japanese pop culture. The Anime Expo will be at the L.A. Convention Center starting July 4 until July 6!

For the Outdoor Moviegoer:

summer movies

Time Out L.A. compiled a giant list of all the outdoor movies in L.A. through September. There are a ton of great movies on the list including, E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial on July 4 at Hollywood Forever Cemetery, and Beetlejuice on July 6 at Santa Monica High School.

For the Live-Music Lover:

Audiocity fest

Feel the waves (not the beach variety) at Audacity of Sound in DTLA on Saturday, July 6. This 7-hour live-music festival has a little something for everyone. Featuring jubilant gospel (with a sing-along!) opera, capoeira, a marching band, boogie-woogie piano, food trucks, a children’s reading room and more.

For the Beachcomber Who Enjoys Fireworks:

July 4th

Looking for a classic, red, white and blue synchronized fireworks display? Catch a seriously jaw-dropping spectacle at the Marina on July 4th.
