College can be a bit of a culture shock. As a student, you probably have a lot on your plate. Selecting the best program for your interests, navigating your new found freedom and juggling a courseload are all intimidating. We want to make student life more manageable while you’re here at The L.A. Film School. Whether you just made the move to Hollywood or are a seasoned Angeleno, this list provides helpful resources for students. THE LIBRARY

As a student, it’s great to tap into as many of our campus facilities as possible. And yes, the library is one of them. Located on the 5th floor of Building 1, the library is available for students M-F from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. On Saturdays its open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and closed on Sundays. Students can check out movie scripts, Blu-ray Discs, books, CDs, magazines and more. You’ll also find the LAFS Library resources online where you can get support to help troubleshoot any issues you may have accessing the Koha Catalog.

FREE Research Databases:

Google Scholar:
Access scholarly literature through Google Scholar. You can search across many disciplines and sources including articles, theses, books, abstracts and court opinions. All literature comes from academic publishers, professional societies, online repositories, universities and other websites.

LinkedIn Learning with Lynda.com:
Go beyond the classroom. LinkedIn Learning is an online learning platform that offers video tutorials to registered members. It’s available to LAFS campus and online students for free through your campus portal. Watch instructional videos like this one:

FREE & Downloadable Music Archives

The Free Music Archive is an interactive library of legal audio downloads founded by legendary freeform radio station WFMU. In addition to enjoying and downloading free music, site visitors can set up their own accounts, make profiles, become friends with other listeners, create and share mixes of FMA music, and write posts on their personal blogs. FREE Collaborative Music Software

Splice allows users to collaborate with artists from anywhere. Artists can work simultaneously or individually on Splice. Create music projects with easy-to-share software and unlimited storage—for free.

COMPUTER ANIMATION LABS

Our animation labs are located on the first floor of Building 2. The labs are equipped with Wacom Cintiq displays and AVID workstations.

FREE CAMPUS AND VIRTUAL EVENTS AT THE L.A. FILM SCHOOL

We bring the industry professionals to you, right here on campus. Attend one of our countless movie screenings, professional panel discussions and Q&A sessions with directors, actors, music artists and more. Update: During COVID-19, The L.A.
