On Monday, May 5, The Los Angeles Film School hosted a special screening of Chef.

Following the screening, Jeff Goldsmith hosted a Q&A with Jon Favreau, the writer/director/star of the film, as well as various other movies including Iron Man and Cowboys and Aliens.

“We really wanted to capture the freneticism of the kitchen environment”

While shooting the film, Jon knew that the visual identity ofChef would need to be different from the blockbuster films he directed earlier in his career, and instead angled for an honest, true-to-life aesthetic.

“I’ve always been lucky having good people to work with”

Jon said, referring to the quality of the overall production, including his cast selection and delivery of the vision.

When asked about his writing habits, Jon responded,

“I try to write about 10 pages per day”

Following the Q&A with Jeff Goldsmith, Jon took questions from the audience. He was asked about the difference between the promotion of Chef versus his previous films.

“Social media and sharing your experience has changed the film landscape”

He elaborated that word-of-mouth and online networks like Twitter and Facebook have become invaluable for spreading buzz about a film.
