Meet the Technical Artist Behind the Coolest Animatronics

Corey Drake is a modern-day puppet master. Spend 10 minutes with Corey and you’ll witness him transform computer animations into tangible 3D models with a few clicks of his mouse. As a technical artist, Corey programs everything from the NBA 2K video game to lifesize animatronics for Disney’s theme parks. Film students and filmmakers today can help change the popular misconceptions of people with disabilities by creating more films about the lives of marginalized people. Harmful stereotypes about the disabled have been perpetuated throughout media for years. In order to start sharing more accurate portrayals of what it’s like to live with a disability, equal representation in film is vital.
