Lane Cheek
Emmy-nominated film and television executive producer Lane Cheek has had a lifelong love of movies, escaping in their stories and characters and wondering how the story could’ve continued had it not been limited to just a standard 90-minute running time.
The Los Angeles Film School alum (Film, 2009) grew up in Annapolis, Maryland. Her father worked for the U.S. government at the National Security Agency (NSA), making her a bonafide military kid–far away from the world of movies and entertainment that she loved.
A fateful aptitude test in high school, whose results stated that she could potentially make a good producer, provided her with the encouragement that she needed to pursue a career in the film industry which would ultimately lead her to pursuing an associate’s degree in film at The Los Angeles Film School.
“I knew instead of going to a four-year college I just wanted to learn in an environment that was as much like an actual film set as possible and for me, that worked.
I was extremely fortunate to get some paying film set gigs while still in school, and soon after I graduated I got hired as an on-set dresser for actress/director Lake Bell’s first movie that she wrote and directed Roadside Attractions’, In A World. It was because of that film I was able to join the IATSE Local 44 Union and start working on union film projects.”

The Telly Award winner’s professional journey is one of tenacity and drive, which took her from early roles in the art department of various productions managing props, art coordinating, and set dressing to finding her way to her ultimate dream of producing.
Since those early gigs, Lane has worked for the industry’s top networks and studios such as 20th Century Fox ABC/Disney, AMC+, and Warner Brothers on the Taken film-franchise and series such as: The Originals, Halt and Catch Fire, as well as cult-favorites The Vampire Diaries, Modern Family, and guilty pleasure The Bachelor. She is currently an executive producer for The Destination Channel and producer for Silver Sail Entertainment, where she recently produced the forthcoming Daisy and Blood Behind Us feature films.
With skills that span brand and production development, content creation, production, post-production, strategic implementation, paired with her passion for empowering and providing opportunities for other filmmakers, she founded her own consulting company, Cheeky Consulting in 2020. In 2023, she also served as festival coordinator for the Mammoth Film Festival.
Lane is also an avid environmentalist who has worked on various cause-worthy productions such as writing and producing the PSA Bee the Change and the documentary, Our Planet 360. The latter came to fruition after a new year’s eve trip to Hawaii with friends, where they went free diving with sharks. They came away so moved by the experience and all of the new information that they’d learned about the human impact that is currently leading to the potential near-future extinction of sharks that they went back to shoot that environmental documentary in hopes of bringing more attention to this issue.
