Announcing Alumni Contributions to GRAMMY-Nominated Albums

According to The Latin Recording Academy, the 22nd Annual Latin GRAMMY Awards nominees were selected from more than 20,000 entries across 53 categories and reflect an expansive range of artists who released recordings during the eligibility period (June 1, 2020, through May 31, 2021). All songs that are considered for nominations must contain a minimum percentage of lyric content in Spanish or Portuguese that ranges from 51% to 75%, depending on the category.

Jaycen Joshua is one of the most decorated mixing engineers to come out of The Los Angeles Recording School. To date, he’s worked with high-profile artists including, Justin Timberlake, Jay-Z, J-Lo, Whitney Houston and countless others. Jaycen Joshua has won multiple Grammys, Latin Grammys and has more than 100 RIAA Gold and Platinum certifications.

This year, Jaycen Joshua is nominated for Best Engineered Album, El Madrileño by C. Tangana. The album is also nominated for Album of the Year and Producer of the Year.


Andrés Borda Zabala

It’s no secret that our recording arts alum Andrés Borda Zabala works as the head engineer for Colombian superstar, Carlos Vives. Together they have created some of the most recognizable music in Latin America. This year, Carlos Vives is nominated for his song Canción Bonita with Ricky Martin. Canción Bonita is nominated in two categories—Song of The Year and Best Pop Song.

Throughout Andrés Zabala’s engineering career, he has won six Latin Grammys—three for his work with Carlos Vives. He is also part of the first Spotlight Academy class at the Los Angeles Film School. Read more about Andrés Borda Zabala.
