Animation Guest Speaker Series – Alumna and Emmy Award Winning Animator Maddie Goldberg

Explore the cutting edge of live sports television with Emmy Award–Winning Animator and Real-Time Graphics Developer Maddie Goldberg, currently creating immersive Unreal Engine environments at ESPN’s Creative Studio. From extended reality sets to real-time character animation using Meta Quest tracking, Maddie’s work is pushing broadcast graphics into the future. Don’t miss this chance to see how real-time technology is transforming the way we watch live sports!

Maddie Goldberg is an Emmy Award-Winning Animator and Real-Time Graphics Developer with 9+ years of experience in the industry. She has a love for tech innovation, 3D software and Real-Time technology. Maddie currently works at ESPN’s Creative Studio in Bristol, CT. Recent experiences include the creation of environments and animations in Unreal Engine for project Volume X – a new venture that combines ESPN’s LED screen with Unreal Engine environments to create extended reality sales spots within the Sports Center Studio. Maddie also worked as Graphics operator on three Alternative broadcasts of NFL, NBA, and NHL programs, using the Meta Quest Pro via Livelink to place real-time 3D characters tracked to our Analysts during the broadcasts.

Life Before Photoshop: The Evolution of Graphic Design

Graphic Design used to be a difficult, time-consuming, yet beautiful process. 

It was a tactile world of ink stains, paper scraps, and layering sheets of acetate until everything lined up just right. Where every poster, album cover and magazine spread was painstakingly crafted by hand. 

So let’s explore the evolution of graphic design by taking a step back in time to the years B.P. (Before Photoshop)- starting with the trusty toolkit they couldn’t live without.

Kick-Off Event | 3x3x3 Screenwriting Challenge

Digital Filmmaking Events presents the 5th annual 3x3x3 Screenwriting Challenge. The challenge is to write an original narrative short screenplay that meets the 3x3x3 requirements that will be announced/voted on at the Zoom Kick-Off Event on Wednesday, December 10th at 5pm PT. All LAFS students are invited to participate. Join us for the Kick-Off event to learn more about the challenge, vote for the required elements, and details on how to submit.

Express your creativity through sound at the Beat Social, an open mic for producers, on Tuesday, 11/18 at 12:00pm PT in the LARS Student Lounge. Hang out, enjoy some snacks, and vibe with fellow students at this casual beat showcase — just show up, bring your beats, and have your MP3s ready!
