Andrés Borda Zabala
A native of Colombia, Andrés Borda Zabala (2011 Alum) knew from an early age that he wanted to enhance the natural sound of instruments and vocals. He found inventive ways to make his early recordings sound better, constantly tweaking and tuning his instruments. With his heart set on working in the music industry,
Andrés enrolled in The L.A. Recording School, a division of The L.A. Film School, to channel his creative talents into a workable skill set. Andrés originally started composing scores for film, but eventually shifted into audio engineering shortly after graduation. He has been focused on audio ever since then. In the years since Andrés graduated from The L.A. Recording School, he’s won six Latin Grammys® for his work with Natalia Lafourcade and Carlos Vives. As an audio engineer and mixer, Andrés has contributed to more than 60 albums and feature films. He’s worked with some of the biggest names in music, and currently works as a studio manager and head audio engineer for Carlos Vives at Gaira Musica Local Estudios in Bogotá, Colombia.

In addition to his work in music, Andrés Borda Zabala is quoted in the credits of Encanto (2021) as a recordist for the “Colombia, Mi Encanto” segment, and has credits as sound mixer on Tales of an Immoral Couple (2016), sound ambience editor on Easy Life (2014), sound effects editor on the animated series Astra Force (61 episodes) and dialogue supervisor/music producer for Nature Is Speaking (2017).
