Music Video Director, Commercial Director and Filmmaker
LA Film School alumna Hannah Lux Davis has made a name for herself as an award-winning music video director, having directed videos for a number of Billboard Hot 100 songs. She has had experience working with artists from a variety of genres to create well-known and widely celebrated videos, ensuring her place as a top music video director among some of today’s hottest musicians, including Ariana Grande, Nicki Minaj, David Guetta, Lil’ Wayne and others. In total, Davis has amassed more than 25 music video production credits.
Making it Big in Music Video Directing
Davis began her journey as music video director while enrolled at The LA Film School, directing free music videos for ‘no-name artists’ she’d find on Myspace or at music shows and festivals. Over time, Davis created a network of artists with whom she could connect for future work, but she struggled to make connections with higher-profile artists or production studios. To immerse herself even further in the directing process, Davis attended Cinema Makeup School in 2006 in hopes of being more involved in the creative work of music video direction. From here, Davis went on as a makeup artist for small feature films and a commercials before she was able to make her break into music video direction. Once she had formed connections in the industry and began working with artists’ agents, Davis directed her first paid music video in 2012 for a group called Twin Atlantic, an alternative rock group. From there, Davis’ first big break came the following year, when she directed Lil’ Wayne’s video for “Love Me,” featuring Drake and Future.
Since then, Davis has directed videos for a slew of popular artists, including Miley Cyrus, Hailee Steinfeld, MKTO, Wiz Khalifa, Paris Hilton, Kendrick Lamar, Ciara, Jason Derulo, and more, crafting music videos that have become as memorable as the songs they accompany. Most recently, Davis has worked on videos like Demi Lovato’s 2015 hit “Cool for the Summer,” as well as 2016 videos for “Me Too,” by Meghan Trainor, DNCE’s “Body Moves,” “Superlove,” by Tinashe, and “Telepathy,” by Christina Aguilera.
