Martin Pensa

Martin Pensa is an Oscar®-nominated film editor best known for his work on the 2013 film Dallas Buyers Club starring Matthew McConaughey. Growing up in Québec, Canada, Martin loved movies from a young age. He expanded his passion for film after enrolling in the Film Program here at The Los Angeles Film School. During his time in film school, Martin worked on 15 short films to learn all that he could about the filmmaking process.

“I’m a team leader and the head of my department, so I work with a lot of people. Being respectful and thinking of my team as peers and collaborators makes the work so much better.”

Martin is the first alumnus to receive an Oscar® nomination for Best Achievement in Film Editing for his editing work on Dallas Buyers Club. That year, Dallas Buyers Club won three Oscars® including Best Actor, Best Supporting Actor and Best Makeup and Hairstyling. In 2012, Martin won a Genie Award for Best Achievement in Visual Effects for the movie Café de Flore (2011). He currently lives in Los Angeles and works as an editor for film and TV series on Netflix, Disney+ and more.
