Screening of A Single Shot

A special screening of A Single Shot, followed by a Q&A with Jeff Goldsmith and director David M. Rosenthal took place at The Los Angeles Film School on Tuesday night.
Following the screening, Jeff Goldsmith hosted a Q&A with the helmer. David provided his thoughts about the process of creating the dramatic feature film on a tight budget, as well as his production process.
“I put together a video look book,” said David, on what tactics he used when pitching himself as the director of the film.
“Sam Rockwell was the first actor attached to the film,” David added while illustrating how he garnered interest in the acting community while casting A Single Shot.
When asked about how long David spent storyboarding A Single Shot, he responded, “I only spent about 3 weeks with a board artist.”
David M. Rosenthal had a talented cast composed of actors who are also adept at improvisation. When asked for his opinion about allowing actors to improvise while shooting on a constrained shooting schedule and budget, he responded, “I want to always keep the door open to that.”
