🎥 Alumni Work on Oscar-Nominated Films

Every year during awards season, The Los Angeles Film School gears up for an exciting season of alumni recognition. We are proud to announce seven alumni worked on nine different Oscar-nominated productions which earned 38 nominations. There is no job too small when contributing to a film production. Our alumni showcased their talents in every area of film production from lighting and camera operation to post-production sound mixing.

The History of Black Filmmakers Who Changed Hollywood

Some would argue that the 2010s was the banner decade for Black filmmaking, but the real foundation happened long before then. There were many influential Black artists throughout the 21st Century who paved the way for people like Jordan Peele and Steve McQueen to excel as filmmakers. As we’ve become familiar with the last decade of Black filmmakers, it’s vital to take a look back in film history at the Black storytellers who started it all.

What is LARS Live?  

Each month we host a show showcasing student performers and content creators, a show for students, produced by students!      

Shows will stream on the school’s Facebook Live, YouTube Live, and Twitch platforms.    

How To Audition!  

Auditions will be held on ZOOM on Monday, Feb 7th and Wednesday Feb 9th.   

To audition, sign up for a time slot:

Check your email or Connect for link, we will send you an email with further audition information.

When you audition, you’ll log in at the assigned time and will have a chance to meet our producing team and show off your talent (music, film, animation, etc).  Since it’s on Zoom just make sure we can see you and hear you so we can get to know you!

As we reflect on Martin Luther King Jr.’s work as an activist, we encourage all of you reading this to spend MLK Day serving your own communities. Here at The Los Angeles Film School, we observe MLK Day as an official day off for students, staff and faculty. This is your time for reflection and service. If you are able to lend your time to the community, here are great service organizations to devote time to this MLK Day.
