Mehrnaz Mohabati

Mehrnaz Mohabati is a pioneering ADR mixer whose expertise has shaped the soundscapes of major Hollywood productions. A graduate of The Los Angeles Film School, she has broken industry barriers, earning recognition for her innovative sound design. Her work spans high-profile projects like Winning Time and American Fiction, as well as Darren Aronofsky’s Postcard from Earth at the Sphere in Las Vegas, showcasing her mastery of immersive audio technology.

Originally from Tehran, Iran, Mehrnaz was among the country’s first female sound engineers before moving to Los Angeles to pursue her passion. Overcoming early career challenges, she landed a role at a Disney-affiliated studio, propelling her into a successful career. Known for her seamless ADR sessions, she has collaborated with acting legends such as Al Pacino, Willem Dafoe, and Molly Shannon. Her talent has earned her prestigious accolades, including an MPSE Golden Reel Award nomination for Fire Chasers and an AMAA Best Sound Award for Soul Diaspora.

Spotlight Academy member Marlon Rivas (Animation 2015) worked as a Postvisualization Artist, while Matt Cavanaugh (Film 2015) served as a Sound Effects Editor. Cavanaugh also added credits as Sound Editor on Netflix’s The Thursday Murder Club and as Sound Effects Editor on the reboot of I Know What You Did Last Summer.
