Joshua Gitersonke has made a name for himself in the film industry with his exceptional cinematography skills and relentless dedication. A graduate of The Los Angeles Film School, Joshua has earned an impressive 11 Emmy nominations and a win for Outstanding Technical Direction, Camerawork, and Video Control.

His journey began in a small Michigan town, but his career skyrocketed after graduating in 2007. Despite the challenges of entering the industry during a writers’ strike, Joshua secured work in reality television, a genre still actively producing content. His big break came with The Amazing Race, where he started as a cameraman and climbed the ranks to director of photography. Over 20 seasons, his work has shaped the show’s dynamic visual storytelling.

“The L.A. Film School was eye-opening. I was working with other students who were as excited to work on film projects as I was. It was a lot of fun.”

Beyond reality TV, Joshua has contributed to major productions, including The Late Late Show with James Corden and National Geographic’s Race to the Center of the Earth. His expertise and artistic vision continue to set him apart in the industry.

The Los Angeles Film School will host its 5th annual Spotlight Awards ceremony celebrating the new Spotlight Academy Class of 2024 members. This year’s Spotlight Awards will be an in-person celebration, as well as on a live stream, at Ivar Theatre in Hollywood, Calif., on September 12. Honoring the Largest Class of Alumni for Their Work on Emmy-Nominated Productions

We are proud to announce our alumni's contributions to this year's Emmy-nominated productions. This is the largest group of alumni to represent TV productions across networks including last year's breakout hit The White Lotus and this year's thrilling fourth season of Stranger Things.
